Dr. Holmwood is one of just a few fellowship-trained ophthalmologists
in Western New York. A summa cum laude graduate of Canisius College,
where he received a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry,
Dr. Holmwood graduated with honors from State University of New
York at Buffalo Medical School in 1986. He completed an internship
in internal medicine at Millard Fillmore Hospital and his residency
in ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland,
Ohio. His glaucoma fellowship was completed through Northwestern
University in Chicago at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Holmwood is licensed
in the state of New York. He is a member of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology; the New York
State Medical Society; Erie County Medical Society and the
Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Holmwood is currently a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology
at SUNY at Buffalo. Previously, he was chief of ophthalmology
at Millard Fillmore Ambulatory Surgery Center and residency program
director for SUNY at Buffalo’s Residency Program.
In 2000, Dr. Holmwood was the recipient of the New York State
Lions International Foundation Distinguished Service Award.
He was also honored by the Lancaster Lions Club with the
Robert J. Uplinger Distinguished Service Award in recognition
for his sustained and outstanding support of the Lion’s
Eye Health Program. Through this program, Dr. Holmwood has provided
eye screenings to hundreds of senior citizens.
A Buffalo native, Dr. Holmwood resides in Williamsville with
his wife Beth and children Alex, Katie and
Cassie. He sees patients at ECVA’s
Southtowns, Niagara Falls and Williamsville offices. |
